Liz Toro and Alyssa Molina founded L&A Babysitting in October of 2013 at the start of their college careers at Adelphi University. Both women were interested in creating a reliable source of childcare in an organized system for working parents. L&A Babysitting started as a group of college students looking for local babysitting jobs and 10 years later, grew to be Sitter Network as a team of hard working babysitters.

The company is based in Nassau County (Long Island), New York. Sitter Network’s mission statement is “Our goal is to provide reliable and convenient childcare, for parents with any kind of schedule no matter how unique.” Sitter Network has over 70 vetted babysitters as part of their team who are either college students or are someone that is looking for part time work in addition to a primary obligation.

L&A Babysitting had plans of launching an interactive website for years and unfortunately those plans had to be put on hold when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Recently, Liz and Alyssa were able to sign a contract with a reputable website designer to get our plans back into gear. They also signed a contract with a service that helped make the business phone line accessible to organize and schedule through different devices. Additionally, the women finally made the switch from a handwritten schedule to an electronic platform of scheduling.

Alyssa and Liz have many goals and dreams of their business as it continues to grow. They hope to fulfill the goal of helping all working parents and especially those that are first responders, healthcare professionals, and educators who have more frequent needs and rotating schedules.

Thank you to those who have supported L&A Babysitting Inc. since the beginning and to those who support their business. L&A Babysitting has always been proud of not being an agency, as the team is truly able to engage with each parent and create long lasting relationships until a family no longer requires childcare.
It truly takes a village. Sitter Network (aka L&A Babysitting Inc.) will always be your village of babysitters ready to give your family a helping hand.

In 2013, Alyssa and Liz started a “Babysitting Club” while beginning their college career which had a total of about 10 families and 5 other babysitters. Their babysitting club quickly turned into a small business and they incorporated L&A Babysitting Inc. in 2016 before graduating college. Shortly after graduation, Alyssa started her career in school counseling and Liz started her career in law enforcement. The business was organized using a handwritten schedule and confirmation text messages were manually sent through a personal phone number.

As the business grew, Alyssa and Liz signed up for a business line that would run on it’s own iPhone.
As young Hispanic women who began a business while trying to juggle personal lives and the start of building their primary careers, Alyssa and Liz learned a great deal about how to manage a business and interact with clients. For about four years, Alyssa and Liz arranged their days every week to manage the business. They would meet once or twice a week to hand off the handwritten schedule and business iPhone. Many times both women ran to babysitting jobs that needed emergency coverage, had sleepless nights ensuring families had coverage for the next day, and spent hours working on the team’s schedules.

The business became an even more reliable source of childcare to those who worked rotating schedules, couldn’t commit to requesting the same days and hours each week, and required unique childcare accommodations. Liz and Alyssa were approached by many parents that requested that the service become more like an agency to accommodate more days a week, set up last minute childcare, and send more consecutive babysitters. Although Alyssa and Liz did appreciate the recommendations, they chose to let the business grow without expanding too fast and stood by their unique business model.
